i have a pretty extensive cv as a visual artist and i want to combine my dance/performance into my resume because of how my creative work is transitioning.
i don't know where to start . . . any suggestions?

Re: resume question
Sun, April 6, 2008 - 3:33 AMMaybe you start by asking who your audience is. Are you trying to get a gig or are you mearly puting together a general c.v. If its for a gig, make sure to list all your pieces in sucha way to show that your natural progression is becoming a performance type artist. List everything relevent to the gig and wher your work is now.
If its for a general c.v. , then combine it all and see the thread you have made from the time you have invested. I bet if you just put everything down on paper, you could select a clear way to show folks there is art to your Art. Once you see the path, select a few milestones to accentuate. List them as "Selected Works" or something nice so folks can enjoy your travels.
Peace and art,

Re: resume question
Sat, April 12, 2008 - 2:15 PMI think you should have one c.v. that is STACKED FULL of everything you've ever done.
and then make a new c.v. from that when you need it (like Luis said, for your audience).
WHAT I DO:
I have a one page "select solo and group exhibitions" c.v and that's the one I use the most...
it's for gallery shows and my rule is.. it's gotta be REALLY GOOD or it's not on there at all.
It was made from that "master" I keep tallying on. I ALWAYS make sure to write on the master whenever I do anything... charity auctions, painting a mural with kids, WHATEVER... at least go back once a month and try to write it all down.
Then, anytime I need to, I can refer to that big threee-ring binder and pull out other lines for creating a nother mini c.v.... So that way, if the job or the environment called for it. (when making that one page) the c.v. SING when you need it to! -

Re: resume question
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 10:28 AMOn that master 3 - ring binder, you can sort and re-sort by catagories and even overlap some (if they overlap).
It can get kind of confusing, but it's better to have it all in one place than to "forget about it" later when it's needed.
